I have been a resident of Centreville, VA since 2006. Over the years, I have lived in New Jersey, Wisconsin, Washington DC, Iowa, California, Korea--my legs are tired!
I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Drake University in Des Moines, IA. There, I had the great fortune to learn from amazing Professors such as Pr. Jules Kirschenbaum, who was the head of Drake's Art Department, and among the best American artists of our time. I also had the great fortune to work with really talented and driven colleagues who I learned from tremendously. Upon graduation from Drake, I came to Washington, DC to attend The George Washington University's graduate school of Fine Arts, where I received a Masters in Fine Arts--Painting. Similar to my experience at Drake, the Professors and colleagues at GWU were outstanding!
Thereafter, I meandered around the midwest a bit ... followed my husband to law school in Madison, WI ... came to New Jersey upon his graduation ... and finally settled down in Centreville, VA. Over the years, I had 2 children, and my perspective on life and art has grown. Every day, my children astonished me with their expressions, whether it was a drawing, the way they colored, the colors they would choose, the shapes they would emphasize when portraying an object, the manner in which they would describe something ... their art became a vehicle for expression, learning, and growth. My children inspired me to develop more ideas and projects, to expand my vocabulary, broaden my perspectives ... and 10 years later here I am, in Centreville, VA, about to open Hannah's Art School. Life is cool, like that!
I would love to share my enthusiasm for the arts with you. Whether it be introductory, or intermediate, or the advanced opportunities to develop a portfolio together, I want to help you sprout your inner artist.
